Arjé Arrives Out East at L'Objet à la Plage

By Sydney Sadick | August 3, 2018 | Style & Beauty

Arjé, a lifestyle concept, pops up at L'Objet à la Plage.

Arjé, the brand conceived by the husband-and-wife duo Bessie Afnaim Corral and Oliver Corral, has arrived out East. One of the first see-now, buy-now fashion labels for men and women, Arjé—translated into “the essence of everything”—offers an assortment of chic travel essentials perfectly suited for jet-setting Hamptonites.

“Our design aesthetic is built around a perfect combination of contradictions: ancient and modern, minimal and warm, effortless and elegant and masculine and feminine,” says Bessie Corral. “Approaching design with a male and female eye and brain is core to our aesthetic. I know how I want to feel in our clothes, and Oliver knows how he wants to see me, and vice versa. This constant conversation that we engage with throughout our process gives our clothes their perfect balance.”

Arjé drops collections three times a year, which are then available for just four months, creating quite the appetite among its fans. The offerings out East are appropriately more beach-ready, featuring a relaxed-meets-sophisticated vibe. Think signature linen shirts, relaxed and oversized knits and silk dresses that are perfect for beach strolls and garden dinners. L’Objet à la Plage, 9 Main St., Southampton,

Bessie Corral's Three Summer Essentials

The Modern Nomad Pant ($570)
“Summertime for us is all about dressing in light layers and light neutrals. These pants were inspired by the idea of a modern nomad. The fabric was a unique development that we created with our mill that was inspired by ancient tapestries. I love the crochet detail at the hem of the pant, which is sheer around your ankles and accentuates your legs.”

The Pure Knit Nomad Wrap ($970)
“Everyone needs a wrap for the summer, and this piece is perfect for traveling as well as cool summer evenings. It’s made from Loro Piana merino wool, and the unique knit stitch was inspired by ancient tapestries.”

The Molded Nappa Mia Jacket ($2,400)
“This is a leather nappa jacket bonded to a cotton canvas. The feeling is heavenly as the jacket literally molds to your body, and the more you wear it, the better it feels. This is my go-to summer jacket that layers over every outfit perfectly. The fit and feel were inspired by a classic denim jacket!”
