Geek out at this science-centric brewery that focuses on the balance and beauty behind every average beer. Committed to crafting beverages revolved around art and science, this unique Long Island-based brewery is all about elevating the definition of beer to any newcomer or “eccentric misfit.” Rob Raffa was first inspired by modern cubism and science as he continued to incorporate unconventional ingredients and experimental techniques into his work. Some of their IPAs feature one-of-a-kind names, like the East Coast “space age times, stone age minds,” or Mexican Lager “it’s all gonna be fine.” Check out their website for information on upcoming events and see when the next featured food truck is pulling up to this hopping science fair.

After two college friends, John Liegey and Rich Vandenburgh, bonded over some “pretty awful beer,” they decided to take matters into their own hands and open a brewery in 2009 in North Folk. Despite having gone down separate career paths, they both mutually share a love for beer and decided to leave their lucrative jobs to fully commit to the craft. Now, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company has gained traction and an enthusiastic fan base with two tasting room locations in Greenport and Peconic, a restaurant and case distribution across New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Whether you go for a limited-release ale, year-round classic lager or even skip the beer and grab an appetizer or sandwich at their restaurant, there is no wrong choice on this brewery founded on the simple and honest goal of making good beer.
Whether you like it bitter and malty, floral and fruity, or a sweet balance of all the combinations, these breweries are serving the best beers, beverages and everything in between that will surely make you the “hoppiest” person in the world.
