The area has multiple different beaches dotted around the different villages and coastlines. A family favorite is Foster Memorial Beach in Sag Harbor because of its kid-friendly location on the bay as well as Sagg Main Beach in Sagaponack. Many of the beaches have lifeguards as well to make it an all-around safe adventure.
Nothing says Northeast summer like a clambake. Grab your clams at a local fish market and cook them yourself or go to East End Clambakes in Southampton or Hampton Clambake in East Hampton to have your party catered or order takeout.
Horseback riding is a fun activity for people of all ages. Stony Hill Stables is one of the popular stables in The Hamptons with hunter-jumper and dressage lessons for people at all skill levels. They also offer different summer camps and programs to help you jump into the sport.
If getting up on the horse yourself isn’t your thing and you prefer enjoying it from the sidelines, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Local shows like the famous Hampton Classic for showjumping or Polo Hamptons in Bridgehampton for polo matches are just two ways to scratch that equestrian itch.
Cool down with a scoop of ice cream or sundae with many different parlors to choose from. From Big Olaf in Sag Harbor overlooking the wharf to Moo Moo’s in East Hampton, the creamy dessert options are endless, and there’s nothing like a nice ice cream cone to end your day.
There’s nothing more Northeastern than fresh berries on a hot summer day. Places like the Garden of Eve Organic Farm and Market and Condzella Farm offer you-pick strawberries and other in-season fruits. Take them home and turn them into homemade jams or pies or eat them straight out of the box.
Take advantage of the water by surfing where there are numerous different beaches and waves for beginners and pros. Also, check out places like the Hamptons Surf Co. and take a lesson or two to strengthen your skills.
From Southampton and East Hampton to Sag Harbor and Amagansett, each village offers its own shops and restaurants to walk around and peruse. With clothing boutiques for parents and toy stores for kids, everyone will find something of interest to them walking the different main streets.
