A Hamptons gem and a hosting gift emporium to many, Tate’s Bake Shop, located in Southampton, is the best bake shop in town for more reasons than one. Since 1980, Tate’s has delivered the best pies and confectionary desserts thanks to founder Kathleen King’s passion for baking. While you may recognize the iconic green bag filled with their delicious thin and crispy cookies in your local market, their pies are nothing to overlook, especially the ultimate pecan or chocolate chip pie. Baking other desserts like brownies, tea loves, pecan squares and more, this bakery heaven is consistently sweet with every treat.

Famously known in the Hamptons, this bakery is the perfect stop for a hosting treat or a dessert to eat. What began as something “simple” as baking a loaf of fresh bread evolved into a locally-minded kitchen and community hub with all kinds of fresh eats, pastries and pantry items to take home. The traditional double-crust apple pie is nothing but amazing, along with the fig tart made with an almond frangipane base topped with fresh figs. It’s officially the best time of year because Round Swamp Farm is open for its fall season, and Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Montauk are home to East End's most delicious bakers. While the farm's prepared foods are known to be the best in town, the dessert lineup is even stronger. Sweet and irresistible, the team wakes up every morning to bake the ultimate pies and sweet specialties that cause some serious fanfare and lines that can sometimes wrap around the entire parking lot. The Tri-Berry crumb pie and apple crumb are just two staples available, but in honor of Thanksgiving around the corner, pick up either the pumpkin or pecan pie for a fall festive flavor.

For four generations, the Krieg family has been baking delectable pies that have been a customer favorite for as long as they can remember. Most of the pies are made with a traditional crust or crumb topping and come in a variety of flavors to settle every pie debate of which slice takes the cake. Some of the flavors include apple, pumpkin, cherry, blueberry peach and even coconut custard for that summer flavor in the cooler months. With other items like apple fritters, cheese Danish rings available only on weekends, chocolate raspberry sandwich cookies, and “spooktacular” cupcakes for the autumn season, Krieg’s is the place you will not leave hungry or empty-handed.
In a world full of complicated and extravagant desserts, sometimes, a slice of homemade pie baked in a flaky and buttery crust is everything you need to satisfy that sweet tooth. With multiple flavors available at each location, these local spots are truly the apple to our "pie."
