Wanderlust inspires Caroline Constas' namesake line that's perfectly suited for a party-centric summer in the Hamptons.
Travel and fashion are in Caroline Constas’ bones. En route to Athens at age 8, she sketched outfits she envisioned wearing on her vacation. “When I got there my grandmother took me to pick out fabrics to re-create the looks I’d drawn on the plane. She sewed them for me!” Constas recalls.
Today, the fashion designer is known for her colorful assortment of effortless summer staples like breezy shirtdresses and off-the-shoulder tops in weightless cotton and other sumptuous fabrics. Her cultish creations are worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, Rita Ora and the everyday woman who, like herself, wants to channel pure wanderlust.
On average Constas takes four trips a year to far-off destinations that inform her collections by way of color palettes, textures and shapes. This summer’s lineup, which includes Constas’ expansion into swimwear, was conceptualized during a trip to Argentina. “It’s a cultural melting pot. Seeing the Italian, Spanish, French and South American influences makes it such an inspiration,” she says.

The standout print in her summer offerings is Calla lily—in yellow and coral—used in pieces like the Jade long robe. “[The robe] is super transitional,” Constas says. “You can wear it with denim cutoffs in the summer with pumps and then in the fall.”
Before Constas takes off for Greece again, she will once again engage in her annual pilgrimage out East. “The Hamptons is part of the New York lifestyle,” she says. “When I’m there, I love seeing how the women’s wardrobes change after just a two-and-a-half-hour drive out of Manhattan.” The transformative power of travel, no doubt.
