Have you ever dreamed of building your own megayacht? Dutch-based, high-end luxury yacht designer Feadship specializes in custom creations, and the company's latest superyacht sensation just might be its biggest jaw-dropper.
Known as Project 3073, the spectacular, all-aluminum megayacht features a full-sized glass-bottomed pool, open wheelhouse, mega-sleek exterior, and state-of-the-art propulsion system. One thing’s for sure: it's made to social distance in style. Project 3073's futuristic allure was featured in an episode of the Feadship Unveils YouTube series, co-hosted by the company's Chief Executive Henk de Vries and Head of Design Tanno Weeda.
The private client, who already owned two Mangusta superyachts, imagined an extraordinary yacht that was “sleek, sporty, and elegant." It's powered by an innovative propulsion system that uses water jets for a speed of at least 30 knots.
The owner asked for the exterior lines to mirror those of a Jaguar E-Type. De Vries, a self-proclaimed car fanatic, brought the client’s vision to life. The shallow-draught yacht is designed to run like a glamorous luxury sports automobile. In the video below, designers explain that the yacht would still be able to fly on water at 20 knots with an efficient electric equivalent propulsion system.
The project’s open bridge deck wheelhouse connects to the main deck saloon through two impressive staircases, giving the yacht a nice sense of flow. Three double cabins are also available to welcome guests aboard the lower deck, where the crew quarters are located.
“One of the most interesting parts of the yacht,” according to designer Weeda, is the main deck's stunning, full-size glass-bottomed pool. It allows light into the master suite and study below, providing what Weeda calls a “spectacular and constantly evolving ambiance.”
The introduction of the imposing 207-foot yacht (63 metres) follows that of the 357-foot (109 metres) superyacht designed by Project Freedie Gump, which was also unveiled in the Youtube series. A concept with “superstar appeal,” Project Freddie Gump was designed for a client who had a personality somewhere between Forrest Gump and Freddie Mercury, according to the yard.
