In the increasingly saturated market of basicwear, it takes a nearly perfect T-shirt to rise above the ranks. Luckily for Hamptonites, that unicorn exists in Sag Harbor, specifically inside Debbie Rudoy’s new flagship store for her brand, Goldie. Made from top-quality Pima cotton sourced sustainably from Peru, Goldie tees are not only unbelievably soft, but perfectly tailored as well. “My background is in textiles, and it’s all about the feel,” Rudoy says. “It has to look good; that’s a given. But if it feels good when you put it on your body, that’s all you want to be wearing.”
Goldie’s signature slub weave has inspired legions of fans, enough that Rudoy decided this season to spin off her line into its own shop on Main Street in Sag Harbor. The free-standing building flooded with natural light was designed not just as a retail space, but almost as a clubhouse of sorts. “It’s very open, inviting and a great place to be in all the time,” she says. In addition to Goldie products, the store also carries products in line with the brand’s wellness ethos, like essential oils and crystal-infused water bottles.
Goldie’s printed tees are some of its best-sellers, and Rudoy expects her new tie-dye collection to be one of the most popular styles for the summer. Visitors to the shop can also scoop up two new collections Rudoy is testing: luxurious French terry loungewear and, for those chillier beach nights, soft, cozy sweaters. 127 Main St., Sag Harbor, goldiesagharbor.com
