WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO LAUNCH THE BRAND?“Figaro Apothecary is a botanical wellness brand that celebrates the healing properties of nature, art and music,” shares Hamptons-based Figaro Apothecary (figaroapothecary.com) co-founder Jennifer de Klaver. “We believe transformation is optimized with a holistic approach that incorporates ALL the senses— sound, taste, sight, scent and touch—and that nature is its great activator.” Along with co-founder Scott Formby, de Klaver finds the beauty and richness within the arts integral to healing. (The brand derives its name from a playful melodic opera by Mozart.) “As soon as the temperature starts to rise, I move my office to the painting studio, an old auto garage,” she shares. “I immediately feel inspired by the large doors open to nature and love being surrounded by my canvases. Summer out East is incredible—the trees are green, flowers blooming, and friends and activities that left for winter make their way back here. When I am not working or painting, l look forward to morning walks with my dog at Flying Point Beach, barbecue dinners on the patio, a special trip to Duryea’s and Sunset Beach, lazy days by the pool and chilling on Cryder with a good book (that I often don’t finish because I fall asleep!),” she says. This July, de Klaver will be one of the artists participating in the Holiday House Hamptons show house curated by Iris Dankner (holidayhousehamptons.com). Here, she shares her summer selects.

SUMMER SKINCARE:
My routine in the summer is easy—wake up using the Agave Ferment + Fruit Extract cleanser (super gentle and refreshing citrus scent). Then follow with our Agave Stem Cell moisturizer, Cannacomplex nourishing serum and Botanical Eye Lift. Two to three times a week, I use our Active Renewal Treatment for resurfacing. On my body, I use our Sheer Botanical body oil, which is incredibly hydrating but doesn’t feel greasy—perfect for summer. At nighttime, I take a bath with a little of the body oil and do the routine all over again. I will definitely be spending time with Catherine Esposito, an amazing celebrity esthetician who will have a pop-up in East Hampton this summer ([email protected]). She has incorporated Figaro into her routine and will have our products available for clients.
SUMMER FRAGRANCE:
I love the scent of our body oil—rose geranium, frankincense and lavender. Not overpowering... just light and easy.
WELLNESS/SUPPLEMENTS:
I believe in self-care and rituals—like morning meditation, taking nightly baths, getting some kind of movement every day and getting sleep. They are key to balance. I also love to eat healthy, fresh organic foods (but I do have an occasional burger!). I also make it a habit of adding Sakara’s meals when things get hectic to ensure organic, healthy options. I take supplements daily—Irish sea moss, diatomaceous earth from Human Garage, a game changer helping ward off dehydration, and enzymes and probiotics from BIOptimizers.

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING ESSENTIALS:
I love to keep it casual and easy with fresh wildflowers in small vases, candles, organic black stoneware and warm gray linen napkins on a long wooden table. There are many beautiful and interesting table accessories at Il Buco Vita and Clic that add texture (and both are great for hostess gifts!).
GOURMET RESOURCES:
First stop, Hank’s Farmstand, then I love finding organic options at Provisions, gorgeous cakes at Carissa’s in Sag Harbor, and Citarella Southampton has a terrific cheesemonger.

A SUMMER MEAL YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SERVING GUESTS:
I am in charge of creating a pretty table, but my partner, Anthony Addison, is the real cook between us (lucky me!). We prepare most meals in the summer on the grill and love a gorgeous tomato, basil and burrata salad with grilled vegetables, fresh corn, and swordfish with mango and jalapeno salsa.
WINES YOU WOULD SERVE:
A crisp vermentino and a summer rosé. I like to find organic when I can; the team at Herbert and Rist in Southampton always steers me to great options. I also enjoy a little tequila with fresh grapefruit— Figaro loves the agave plant! Curamia tequila blanco, created by Dafna Mizrahi, is an amazing tequila—light and clean.
A FAVORITE SPOT FOR A NIGHT OUT IN THE HAMPTONS:
My favorite night out starts early at il Buco in Amagansett, ending at Talk House, listening to live music! We are hoping our fave, Donavon Frankenreiter, is back again this season. Great food and staff at Pierre’s, Argento and Pellegrino’s, and I hear a few new spots are coming to Southampton that we are also excited to try.
