How Model Kate Bock Found Her "Silver Lining" in the Hamptons

The covergirl makes the Hamptons her home this autumn, relishing the splendor of the season.

"We've been here since mid-June—and it’s been great,” says Canadian-born supermodel Kate Bock of her newfound home in the Hamptons. “I’m so happy that I’ve had this opportunity to be out here for this long. I feel like that might be a silver lining in this whole situation—I really got to spend a lot of time here and we’re actually going to stay throughout the fall. So I really get to see the Hamptons go through a couple of seasons, which is really nice,” she shares.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the stunner has had quite the year, gracing the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue alongside Jasmine Sanders and Olivia Culpo—and spending quality time with her beau, Cleveland Cavaliers NBA star Kevin Love.

“I’ve definitely been trying to just get outside as much as possible,” she says of enjoying her time out East with Love and their Vizsla pup, Vestry. “It is really nice that I can take my dog out for a big, huge walk through the farmlands every day and go to the beach and just be outside in the fresh air. I really think that that helps a lot, especially when we’re kind of feeling stuck and down during these darker times.” Bock says “lots of cooking and going to the farmers markets” has also helped her pass the time. “I feel like I’ve been trying out as many different markets as possible and figuring out what’s best for each one, which is amazing because there’s so many amazing markets out here.”

But no doubt it is more than farm stand-fresh produce behind that covergirl glow and famed figure. The model says that movement is always good medicine for her these days. “We actually brought a bunch of gym equipment, so we have a little gym at the house,” she says. “I think just finding online workouts that we can do either together as a couple or that I do by myself has been really good. Basically, just moving my body, eating healthy, finding clean foods are all really helpful during any time—but especially when you’re feeling heavy and dark and sad during these times.”

“I’ve been doing a walk or run with my dog, and then I come home and I do just like a 30-minute sculpt class,” Bock says of the workouts like Megan Roup’s The Sculpt Society or Melissa Wood Health that she likes to do. “I feel like when I see that it’s 30 minutes, I can always convince myself to do it because 30 minutes isn’t that long.” The stunner makes good use of the amazing beaches in the area. “I really like the walk from Atlantic Beach to Indian Wells and then around on the street,” she says. “We do that loop a few times, and it’s beautiful because we can bring the dog off- leash. We go on in the morning and she can run around, which is really nice.” Bock also cites loving the ample beaches of Mecox and Gray’s as well as Bayside. “I’ve been paddleboarding a bunch of times with some friends, and it’s really nice being in totally calm water,” she says of the bay. “I love that you can have both out here. You can have a crazy, wavy beach day or have a totally calm, flat day.”

When I inquire if she follows the usual sort of rigid diet you might expect from a swimsuit model, Bock’s balanced mindset is apparent again. “I am dairy-free just because I have an allergy, not for any other reason,” she explains of her diet. “I know that I’m missing out on cheese, but I found a few actually really good dairy alternatives out here that are fresh, fresh cashew cheeses or different alternatives that are great,” she says. “I just try to eat fresh food as much as possible. And nothing packaged if I can avoid it. It does mean a lot of cooking, but we have a grill out here and we’ve just been using that every day. So we do a lot of fish, a lot of chicken; we mix in steak every now and then, like lots of whatever is fresh at the farmers market vegetable-wise. Basically a lot of home cooking, which has been forced on us because of COVID but also been great because now I feel like I have a whole new world of cooking in my library.”

When asked for her gourmet go-tos, it is clear she has enjoyed her epicurean explorations out East. “Amber Waves Farm is my favorite,” says Bock as she starts to rapidly reel off her favored farm stands. “Round Swamp has great to-go, fresh stuff but also prepared foods. And then I also love Loaves & Fishes. I love just picking up some stuff from there when we have someone in town. They do great muffins, breads and salads,” she says, sounding like a seasoned Hamptons hostess.

“This is the first time I’ve been out here in the fall,” Bock shares. “I’m really excited. I hear the best things about all the fall foliage and pumpkin patches... and that Thanksgiving is going to be magical. I’m excited that it seems like now, more than ever, more people are staying out here.”
