Léon 1909 spices up the season with local ingredients and recently debuted french-italian dishes.
When it comes to Léon 1909 cocktails, you can’t go wrong, but our drink of choice is the Martinez, made with gin, amontillado, sherry, P.X. sherry, Luxardo and sherry vinegar.
While off-season on the East End might be slower, we promise it is no less delicious thanks to a bevy of year-round favorites like Shelter Island’s very own Léon 1909. “In the fall, we are looking forward to seasonal vegetables from local farms as inspiration for our dishes and cocktails,” says owner Valerie Mnuchin. “We are excited for the tastes and smells of summer to morph into earthy fall vegetable and seafood fare.” On the menu, expect a mélange of fresh French and Italian flavors—including the Montauk red shrimp crudo with preserved citrus and garden herbs, the matsutake mushroom custard with clothbound cheddar and puffed rice, and more. And to make the season even sweeter, Matchbook Distilling Co. is taking over the bar on Nov. 27 for a night full of exclusive cocktail specials and fall dishes. We’ll cheers to that! 29 W.
