Local songstress Sofia D'Angelo explodes onto the scene with her debut album, HEATWAVE.
Born and raised in New York, 20-year-old vocalist, songwriter, producer and model Sofia D’Angelo (@sofiadangelo27) has talent beyond her years. “My love of music isn’t inspired so much as it is innate,” explains D’Angelo, who has headlined at local venues ranging from the Parrish Art Museum to Amagansett’s Stephen Talkhouse. The Chapin School student started her career at open mic nights at a small venue in Sag Harbor and now takes trips to East Hampton to visit family. D’Angelo started learning guitar at age 12 and her star has rapidly been on the rise ever since. “Some of my earliest memories include music; singing into my Barbie karaoke machine, dancing to Madonna and Wham! on my family’s living room couch, performing in front of my whole family during holidays when we’re all together,” she says. “With my group, MICHELLE, we have new music coming up that is so exciting I can’t even begin to talk about it,” she shares. “On my own, I’m performing at a benefit for the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center on July 16. You can also purchase MICHELLE’s debut record, HEATWAVE, at Innersleeve Records, which is dope because I’ve been going to that store ever since it opened, and I love the team there.”
