UFC's Luke Rockhold Launches New Ralph Lauren Fragrance in the Hamptons

By Lauren Epstein | July 5, 2018 | People

A beach bum at heart, Southern California native Luke Rockhold, a UFC world champion, steps out of the ring and onto the Hamptons' stunning shores to launch Ralph Lauren's newest, water-inspired men's fragrance, Polo Ultra Blue.

How does a top MMA fighter and UFC Middleweight Champion get into modeling?
I ironically didn’t get into it until 10 years into my fighting career, fighting the best guys in the world. You would think it’d be the opposite, that you’d lose your modeling career at that point. But I don’t really make mistakes that often, so I’ve been able to keep myself clean, especially my ears. I’ve done well for myself and I believe I’m the best in the game. I’m happy to be here and I couldn’t be in a better place with a better brand.

On that note, how does it feel to represent such an iconic American brand?
It couldn’t be a better story. Polo has been in my life since I was a kid. They are the champion of their world and I’m the champion of mine, so it’s a perfect fit.

4.2 fl. oz. for $86, Polo Ralph Lauren, 2 Main St., East Hampton.

Polo Ultra Blue is the newest addition to the cult-favorite Polo Blue fragrance line. Tell us about the scent.
They’ve brought all the feelings of the ocean, the salt and the minerals. It’s very fresh, very light and it’s very me—I’m a coastal, beach-community guy. Your scent has to feel right and it has to feel fresh. It’s the worst when you’re overpowered by someone’s fragrance.

What was it like shooting the campaign in the Hamptons?
It was actually my first time out to the Hamptons, and it was quite the introduction. It’s a beautiful place but it’s different than what I thought. Montauk is more of a beach community, but East Hampton, where we stayed, was very country. It was so peaceful.
