WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB? I never expected or wanted to be in real estate. I fell into it in my mid-20s thinking it would just be something to do on the side. I realized very quickly that this isn’t a part-time gig. I began to love the hustle that comes with being a real estate agent. When a deal closes, my business partner, Lindsay Barton Barrett, and I know that we, along with our incredible team, made it happen due to hard work, knowledge and perseverance. I love handing people the keys to their dream homes. I love the trust a seller puts in us. It’s all rewarding, even the less fun parts, which indeed are part of the job.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR PROSPECTIVE SELLERS AND BUYERS? For both buyers and sellers, experience is key. Lindsay and I have a collective 40-plus years in real estate. We know all of the ins and outs of the process and the issues that can arise. For sellers, a keen eye is everything. Lindsay is a former lawyer-turned-real estate developer and broker with a thoroughly analytical mind. I am a fixer by nature and I enjoy the opportunity to produce creative solutions to any unforeseen issues. Between the two of us, we have seen it all. The devil is in the details. You want a team that thinks of everything and can handle anything the market has to throw at you.

WHAT ARE A FEW OF YOUR CURRENT LISTINGS THAT STAND OUT FROM OTHERS ON THE MARKET? This summer, we are working on readying a stunning townhouse on Grove Street, a super-prime block in the West Village, for sale and we just listed Penthouse A at 7 Bond St. in Noho. The home at 7 Bond St. has incredible ceiling heights and one of the best roof decks downtown. The West Village house is a modern masterpiece of style and sophistication, set within a turn-of-thecentury facade. We’ve also got an amazing listing at 275 Adelphi in Fort Greene that we just started marketing. It is a massive, chic, tasteful historic townhouse in one of the best spots in Brooklyn.
A coming soon West Village home
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING THIS SUMMER? Lindsay and I formed the Barton Barrett Marshall Team in April of this year. Lindsay had been running a smaller, but very successful, team on her own and I was the director of operations for another top team at Douglas Elliman. Our shared vision, experience and 16-yearlong friendship made this a natural choice. We are now a team of seven seasoned agents and I am excited to continue to work with everyone to take this team to the next level.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOODS RIGHT NOW? There are so many great neighborhoods in New York City. It’s hard for me to pick favorites. Anytime a great new restaurant or house or building pops up, or a buyer wants to see property in an area, I fall in love as I spend time there. I am really into Prospect Heights right now. The mix of historic houses and new buildings offers a lot of options for a buyer who also enjoys being close to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden. In Manhattan, I crave the openness offered by the lofts in Tribeca. The neighborhood’s privacy and proximity to the water and Hudson River Park are paramount.
ANY EXCITING NEWS OR UPCOMING EVENTS YOU CAN TELL US ABOUT? I am proud to say that we were the No. 1 producing team for Douglas Elliman in New York City for May 2023, our first full month as a newly formed team. I am looking forward to continued success!
