Celia Konstantellou | July 8, 2020 | Food & Drink Food & Drink Feature National

Prepare the classic martini with some Monkey 47 gin and serve it into a chilled glass. Cheers!

Even though the history of the martini dates back to the 19th century, a heated debate still ingers over the origins of the famous cocktail. In their 1997 book, Shaken Not Stirred, Anistatia Miller and Jared Brown delve into the libation's origins. Over time, the martinis became drier as the proportion of gin increased, while the amount of vermouth decreased. Winston Churchill famously preferred his dry martini served by pouring a glass of good gin, while merely glancing at the vermouth bottle. Today, Monkey 47 gin has earned a cult following among bartenders and gin connoisseurs alike. Discover what Monkey 47 gin fans refer to as the world’s best gin with the brand's recipe for a Monkey Martini.
