The 2021 National Basketball Association Finals were extra special this year, as the winning Milwaukee Bucks received the coveted Larry O’Brien victory trophy in a case that represents pure winning style: a Louis Vuitton Travel Case custom built for NBA champions.
Built to shine, the trophy case is covered in Louis Vuitton’s classic monogram canvas, while the inside is coated in a deep blue hue meant to symbolize the traditional colors of the NBA.
The trophy is flanked by drawer panels painted with long white lines forming a “V” that represents the sentiment “Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton.” Blue and red are added to the case, symbolic of the NBA logo.
This beautifully-crafted trunk was designed and finalized in the Louis Vuitton workshop in Asnières, Paris. It's actually the second year in the trophy case's history, having been presented to the Los Angeles Lakers the previous season.
Louis Vuitton has now been named the first official trophy travel case provider for the NBA. In celebration of the partnership launch, the French fashion house released a special menswear capsule collection dedicated to the league.
LVxNBA was designed by LV Artistic Director Virgil Abloh and was first unveiled in May 2020. The looks were inspired by the three stages of player life, with pieces fit for every stage of a professional's day, moving from travel to gameplay and post-game press conferences.
It’s not Louis Vuitton’s first capsule in partnership with the NBA, and it certainly won’t be the last. It’s also not the brand’s first time designing a travel trunk for a grand trophy. In May of this year, Louis Vuitton designed the official trophy for the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix race in Monaco.
Congratulations to the Milwaukee Bucks and Louis Vuitton on their exciting new NBA partnership.
