The NoMad Hotel Wine Director and founder of VINNY Wines, Thomas Pastuszak, knows his way around wine. The leading sommelier has achieved accolades such as Forbes 30 Under 30 & Food & Wine Sommeliers of the Year, so it’s safe to say he has topnotch taste. As we prepare to pack our bags for weekends out east, Pastuzak shared with us some of his favorite places to grab a glass of wine.
Highway “A favorite spot of mine just outside of East Hampton, great for a quick, delicious burger or a full-blown meal with the family. The wine-by-the-glass list is filled with great classics from the Old World, as well as some really fun, off-the-beaten-path options from around the globe (plenty of delicious choices to choose from on the full bottle list, as well: one of my favorite wine lists on the east end)!”
The American Hotel “It’s always fun to stop in to this iconic spot in Sag Harbor, where you can really feel the history of the building and the town and dive into their massive wine list, with plenty of back-vintage selections from the U.S. as well as Europe.”
Sunset Beach “Growing-up, I spent my summers on Shelter Island working in restaurants, landscaping and lifeguarding on Crescent Beach, where the super-popular Sunset Beach is located, so I have a sentimental connection to this beautiful location. It’s a really fun spot to play bocce with a glass of rosé, or watch the sun go down over the bay with a glass of a crisp-mineral white wine and feel like your transported to the French Riviera.”
And what about if you’re looking to enjoy a glass in the convenience of your backyard? Thomas’s most recent wine, VINNY, has just launched a canned bubbly rosé as a follow up to their Blanc wine. The rosé includes notes of strawberry, lemon, peach and a refreshing blend of Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris and Dry Riesling.
