Distilled from New York apples, Upstate Vodka pairs perfectly with summer in the Hamptons.
Upstate Vodka by Sauvage Distillery is changing how we think about one of the world’s most popular liquors. Offering an exciting departure from the more traditional method of using dry grains and potatoes to make vodka, this New York-based brand creates its delicious product with locally-grown apples.
“We embarked on a mission of making a new generation of vodka using the most popular locally-produced fruit—apples,” says Ilio Mavlyanov, the founder of Upstate Vodka.
Handcrafted in Charlotteville, New York, the distillery works with local apple farms to create a vodka that’s not only gluten-free certified but uniquely smooth and flavorful. Each small batch undergoes meticulous double distillation, incorporating approximately 80 apples per bottle. The extended fermentation process, spanning roughly four times longer than other vodkas, contributes to a velvety mouthfeel and subtle fruity undertones.
“The longer process gives the vodka a sophisticated edge, and people really appreciate the hint of apple,” Mavlyanov says. “It’s so smooth—it tastes great on the rocks or in a vodka soda, and it mixes beautifully in your favorite vodka cocktails.”
