Patrón just debuted a $7,500 bottle and only 299 bottles of it were made.
The coveted exclusive release comes in partnership with French glassmaker Lalique. Just ahead of National Tequila Day on July 24, the third collaboration between the two companies coalesces Mexico’s tequila mastery and France’s crystal industry best.
Presented in a crystal decanter created by Lalique’s artistic and creative director, Marc Larminaux, Patrón en Lalique: Serie 3 is a blend of rare extra añejo tequilas. It is an artistic depiction of the agave plant and pays homage to where Patrón is sourced.
“Our familia of talented craftsmen are constantly experimenting to create bold innovations that stay true to the Patrón commitment to handcrafted perfection,” said David Rodriguez, master distiller at Patrón. “We explored many combinations of extra añejo tequilas before landing on the liquid excellence that can be found in Patrón en Lalique: Serie 3.”
Patrón en Lalique: Serie 3 is a blend of 14 different tequilas each aged for up to eight years in French and American oak casks, resulting in sweet and smooth flavors of spices, dried fruits, sherry wine and intense wood. Rodriguez’s aim was to curate a blend so rare that it could never be replicated.
Matching the tequila’s exemplary profile, each decanter is handmade and individually numbered at Lalique’s Alsace, France factory where an expert glassmaking team employs modern and traditional techniques.
“With this series we pushed the boundaries of art even further with the design of our decanter that celebrates the natural and raw materials that go into every drop of Patrón Tequila,” said Silvio Denz, chairman and CEO at Lalique. “Much like the masters at Patrón, at Lalique we pride ourselves on achieving excellence in everything we do.”
The 750 mL limited-edition bottles are available where fine spirits are sold and on Blockbar.com, an NFT marketplace for fine wine and spirits. Serie 3 follows up Serie 1, the 2015 release inspired by the Patrón bottle design, and Serie 2, the 2017 release that featured Lalique’s signature Art Deco design.
