Breitenbach Advisory has taken the Hamptons by storm and has risen as one of the top real estate teams in the area. Here, leading broker Matt Breitenbach talks all things real estate, marketing and how he built his powerhouse of a team.
CAN YOU TELL ME A BIT ABOUT THE BREITENBACH ADVISORY TEAM? We want to curate the experience for our client before, during and after the sale. I’ve been in real estate since I was 22, and being around a lot of brokers, I feel some of the clients were not being serviced on the level that I think they should have—especially on a luxury level. That’s where the concept for this team came from; I knew I had to leverage a team in order to reach that level, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the roles and responsibilities and how we’re going to do that. I think when you look at most real estate teams, it’s like having a basketball team with too many people that score points. You need someone getting rebounds and everything else. And I think the idea for us is to have a balanced team of agents and full-time employees.
DESCRIBE THE TEAM’S INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO REAL ESTATE. What we’re trying to do is build powerful relationships with our clients and not just have transactions. We want a very human experience, and I want people to know who I am, and know that I’m genuine and know that I care. We focus on the relationship and make sure that it’s successful, but even if it’s not, I want to know that we gave it our all and I think that’s something unique to us. We’re hungry. It’s like speed in sports—you can’t teach that. I always say that no one will outwork us. At the root of everything we do is ambition; we dream really big and go really hard.
WHAT FUTURE PROJECTS ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT? We’re continuing to grow our videos and digital marketing. We’re going to be shooting new videos every week in a more vlog style, which will be exciting since it will be more ‘day in the life’ content. It’s all about people getting to know the team more and seeing how we work, while also seeing these properties and beautiful homes. We get to show the fun side of business, with an added sales perspective and knowledge.
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY SINGLE DAY? As a broker—on a personal level—I love putting deals together and creatively trying to make a sale happen. My two favorite things about this business are opening deals and closing them. I love that first meeting of the client and getting to understand what they want, and one of my favorite challenges is trying to get these deals done. It’s stressful, but I think I like the rush of that. I tell any sales agent that comes on my team that if you don’t like the rush of doing a deal, as an agent on the sales end of it, you’re in the wrong business.
