Ruschmeyer’s Hotel’s recently debuted restaurant, Placebo, effortlessly fuses the rich culture of Puerto Rico with our favorite New York flavors.
El Grupo SN—the team behind Somewhere Nowhere and 9 Jones—has officially ventured into hotel management at Ruschmeyer’s Hotel, tugging along an array of fresh new food and beverage concepts. Cue Placebö Montauk, a Puerto Rican-new American fusion restaurant rife with bold flavors and colorful fare. Reminiscent of the El Yunque Rainforest, the 4,693-square-foot space is adorned with tropical leaves, natural elements and soothing earth tones. As for the menu? Chef Sandy Dee Hall (who, yes, you may know from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) transcends regional boundaries with a menu full of plates that pack a punch. Our personal favorite? The A5 wagyu risotto paella made with a crunchy paella bottom and thinly sliced wagyu, mixed with wild mushroom, jalapeno, Parmesan and saffron. “This season marks a fresh start, and Placebö is just the beginning,” says co-owner Nathan Leong. “Guests can expect a re-imagined Ruschmeyer’s experience with exciting new concepts to be revealed.” Don’t want the night to end? Head down to Don Jaguar’s, Placebö’s exclusive speakeasy lounge with seductive sips that rival the luxe leopard-accented decor. 161 Second House Road, Montauk,placeborestaurant.com
