The sisters behind Stoney Clover Lane—Kendall and Libby Glazer—are making a splash in East Hampton with their very first Hamptons store.
Sister duo Kendall and Libby Glazer are determined to make fireworks on the East End’s shopping scene this summer. Enter their splashy, customizable accessories brand Stoney Clover Lane’s first Hamptons outpost, offering a precious selection of lifestyle and travel items for self- indulging and easy gifting.
I met the Glazers at their first retail location, which launched last November in Palm Beach. On opening day, their cult following of children and adults crowded the store, eager to shop and customize their items that until then they could only purchase online. This gave them the opportunity to see in person the extensive range of products available, including fan favorites: weekend overnight bags and makeup pouches.
“It’s crazy to think we started out as a beaded bracelet line,” says Kendall Glazer, 27, who started the brand with Libby when Kendall was entering her freshman year
of college and Libby in her junior year of high school. Their designs quickly caught the attention of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and more (thanks to social media), but it was their idea of creating patches—think girl scout sashes with amped-up embellishments—that transformed the brand into a lifestyle and accessories company.
“People loved the patches because they could put them on items they already own,” Libby says, “so it made sense to expand and create our own items to put the patches on too.” It’s now common to spot a woman carrying a designer bag—like the Dior or Saint Laurent shopper/beach tote—paired alongside one of SCL’s accessories.
For Kendall and Libby, it’s critical to keep Stoney Clover Lane—the street the sisters were born on in Rochester, N.Y.—in locales defined as destinations. “We grew up in Palm Beach, so that was the perfect first place to open, and the Hamptons is the next best place as we’re close to our New York customers but can still make it an experiential destination,” Kendall says.
According to the pair, there will be no shortage of exciting experiences launching at their Main Street store. For example, a professional will be in-store seven days a week to customize any of your purchases on the spot. I adore their leather jewelry trays, which I’ve customized with a metallic gold seashell. You can also find patches in collaboration with popular Hamptons destinations. Sneak peek: Wo?lffer Estate Wine Stand patches. Rose? accessories? A very Hamptons combination, indeed.
The Glazers think very similarly, perhaps part of what makes the cohesiveness of their brand and business model so impressive. “We will be shopping for clothes online, separately at our own apartments, and Libby and I will literally show up in the same outfits,” Kendall laughs. “We have fun working together,” Libby adds. The sisterly love and business savvy are real. 83 Main St., East Hampton, 631.248.5833, stoneycloverlane.com
