Tory Burch Channels Hamptons Style Icon Lee Radziwill

From one chic and intrepid woman to another, Tory Burch's muse for the Fall collection was none other than East Hampton's own Lee Radziwill.

From the Hadids to the Hiltons, sisters as sartorial stars have long been a source of inspiration, and the iconic Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lee Radziwill have influenced American fashion more than any sibling with an Instagram account ever might. This season, Hamptonite Tory Burch opted for the younger Bouvier sister as her muse, allowing the maven to inform the collection with a romantic optimism. For her fall ready-to-wear 2018 collection, Burch debuted an array of semisheer chiffon dresses, patchwork caftans, silk georgette gowns and a mix of botanical prints offering a sporty interpretation of Radziwill’s signature bohemian-chic style. Referencing Radziwill’s autobiography Happy Times as the show’s major motif, Burch repurposed the moniker for a bold floral pattern employed in multiple colorways. The collection was presented in a mossy field of pink flowers giving a nod to Radziwill’s iconic and often-photographed pink couch from her Paris apartment. “From Lee’s effortless style to a field of carnations inspired by the drama of Pina Bausch’s Nelken line... romanticism defines the fall/winter 2018 mood,” says Burch. “Feminine layers mixed with classic tailoring, a modern take on chintz, and contrasts of texture and print,” is how Burch summarizes her sublime offerings for the season to come. “Accessories carry these ideas through in bags and pointy-toe shoes,” she says. The Lee handbag’s ladylike structure is made modern in embossed croc and colorblock. Burch explains that it’s Radziwill’s character and resilience she finds most inspiring. We expect the Radziwill collection to be equally enduring. 47 Newtown Lane, East Hampton,
