For the first time, the aircraft offers an impressive Retreat Suite, located at the front of the Upper Class cabin. This addition includes two exclusive, incredibly spacious suites that offer a 6ft7” direct seat that transforms into a fully flat bed, 27” touchscreen with Bluetooth capabilities/wireless charging and an ottoman that serves as extra seating to accommodate more people (up to 4 in total!) The Retreat offers unparalleled privacy through fully-closing aisle doors and a do-not-disturb light feature for those seeking uninterrupted rest.
Further enhancing the flying experience, Virgin Atlantic added 30 new-and-improved Upper Class cabin suites to the aircraft. More space and storage has been made available through the fully forward-facing design. Additional amenities include a do-not-disturb feature, mirror, passenger-controlled mood lighting and 17.3” touchscreen TV.
The Loft — an Upper Class social space that Virgin Atlantic has received accolades for — now hosts eight people and offers a self-service fridge to enjoy refreshments from while passengers board the plane. 27” touchscreens and wireless charging facilities will be offered here as well.
The 46-seat Premium cabin is receiving an upgrade as well. The airline’s plush burgundy seats will now include calf rests and a 13.3” touchscreen equipped with Bluetooth audio. Each seat will offer a wireless charging pad too.
Virgin Atlantic is equipping the Economy Cabin with the largest screens yet, at 13.3”, including Bluetooth capabilities and the ability for passengers to use their phone as a controller — USB charging ports will be available to keep devices powered up too. Customers will also be able to choose between 28 Economy Delight seats, offering passengers an increased 34” seat pitch, or 156 Economy Classic seats, offering a 31” pitch. This customizable flight experience is sure to satisfy every customer’s needs.
On top of it all, Virgin Atlantic still remains committed to its mission of flying greenly and cleanly. The A330-900 neos are 11 percent more fuel and carbon efficient than the model they are replacing. The airline also operates a fleet with an average aircraft age of under seven years, meaning each aircraft retains the most efficient engine while still saving fuel and reducing emissions. Virgin Atlantic, so far, has delivered a 20% reduction in fleet carbon emissions from these efforts .
Virgin Atlantic’s A330neo is expected to take off to Boston on its first customer flight in early October. Tickets will go on sale later this month. From September 2022, the airline will take delivery of three aircraft, with the remaining deliveries following between 2023 and 2026. For more information about Virgin Atlantic, visit the website.
