As the official sip of the season, Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s Summer in a Bottle is already the toast of the town. To celebrate a decade of the ubiquitous Hamptons icon, the vineyard recently debuted its Summer in a Bottle Long Island sauvignon blanc 2023 (wolffer.com). As with many things on the East End, it is all about location for this unique varietal. Sagaponack’s proximity to the ocean means a cooler climate that guarantees freshness, and its latitude of 40.9 degrees provides ample sunlight and puts the region at an advantage to compete with the best sauvignon blancs in the world. “Summer in a Bottle sauvignon blanc is clean, crisp and bright, yet focused and ripe,” says Roman Roth, winemaker and partner at Wölffer Estate Vineyard. “Our favorable climate and soil, combined with our diligent and fine-tuned vineyard management and commitment to consistency and quality, is what sets Wölffer Estate apart.” We’ll raise a glass to that!
